Coder is on a mission to build enterprise software that makes software developers’ lives easier and keeps them in flow. We are seeking a
Solutions Architect to join our team at Coder. This role will be responsible for a lot of important business and technical functions at Coder. Our number one priority at Coder is helping our customers realize the full potential of their developers.  This means using Coder Enterprise software to drive more efficiency and security.  Coder allows developers to innovate without worrying about setting up and updating their environments every time they move to new projects or dealing with the support of their development environments.  This role will be with the team responsible for the onboarding of customers and ensuring they have a best-in class experience from day one.  This is a strategic role at a rapidly growing technology startup.

As such, you will be wearing many hats and will definitely be able to showcase your cloud-native and app/dev superpowers.  You will have the opportunity to help define the process for customer adoption, help create best practices within the evolving CDE space and champion customer feedback to our engineering team. 

What you will be doing:



  • Design and deliver world-class architectures based on customer assessment and needs

  • Perform customer on-boarding, periodic reviews, and proactively alert customers of any impending issues

  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the company products, functions, features, and benefits

  • Predict issues/concerns and ability to elevate them to the appropriate point of contact and managing to a swift resolution

  • Enhance the support of technical assistance for customers on all aspects of Coder’s products

  • Updating product docs, writing how-to guides, statements of work for contracts, etc

  • Bringing customer feedback to engineering to ensure the product continues to be easier to onboard and use over time.

What you bring:



  • You have at least 4 - 5 years of experience as a Solutions Architect

  • A minimum of 2 years of technical sales experience

  • And proven success in the following areas:

Customer-related:



  • Experience working hands on with engineers at enterprise companies and have a deep understanding of their constraints, needs and issues, especially early post-sales

  • Strong customer facing skills including the ability to earn trust from technical contacts on the customer side

  • Customer empathy which means you understand that the best technical solution may not always work for your customer’s workflows

  • Comfortable working in enterprise environments, and understanding of their constraints

Technical:



  • Application development experience and a firm understanding of how large enterprises manage the app/dev process. Having context of how the industry has modernized over the years would also be valuable. 

  • Deep foundational and working knowledge of Linux operating systems and system administrative experience

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • Experience working inside at least one of the following: AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure environments

  • 1+ years of strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code tooling, specifically Terraform

  • Firm understanding of computer networking, specifically ingress controllers, proxies, and load balancers 

General:



  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills

  • Strong Emotional Intelligence

  • Self-motivated, with a creative and analytical mindset

We will be really excited if you have the following: 



  • A track record at both startup and mid-to-large software providers

  • Open-source software contributions

  • Background as a Software or DevOps Engineer

  • Experience with Tailscale

  • You have worked in a developer platform team, platform engineering or you have worked closely with these teams

  • You have a Kubernetes certification

  • Experience with Backstage.io

Interview Process 


We believe that the interview process should be consistent and enjoyable. We hope to get through the interview process in two to three weeks if schedules allow. During this time, you will be able to meet a mix of individual contributors, managers, and leadership. If this position requires a take-home assessment, we will compensate you for your work and time after completion.
