As the COMSEC SME/Trainer you will provide expert training and support to the MSC Staff CMS Responsibility Officer (SCMSRO) and the MSC COMSEC Community. This position will work onboard ships and in a classroom setting, playing an integral role in educating the MSC fleet of all the latest COMSEC policies and procedures by conducting COMSEC training for new and experienced COMSEC users.  

Qualifications:


  • Perform COMSEC Inspections using CMS-1 series inspection manuals
  • Conduct COMSEC Spot Checks on Local Elements.
  • Perform COMSEC oversight of Local Element Accounts to include ordering, receipt, and distribution of COMSEC keying material and equipment.
  • Deliver recurring training on the operation of COMSEC mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operation Processes (SOPs) and COMSEC specific training guides.
  • Conduct site visits and traveling to perform training, inspections, equipment maintenance, and re-supply of necessary COMSEC related material or items.
  • Experience in the controlling policy documents related to COMSEC management.
  • Maintain all current and applicable COMSEC Publications and Guidance.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, issuance and operational instruction for COMSEC hardware (e.g. STEs, SKLs, KG-175s, KG-250s, IRIDIUMs, and KIV-7s).
  • Provide COMSEC administrative support including material inventory, destruction reports, order placements, and tracking.
  • Interact and coordinate with NSA, NCMS, CMIO, CRF’s, Controlling Authorities, and Local Elements.
  • Develop and maintain multiple databases in support of COMSEC processes and policy utilizing Microsoft products such as Excel, Access, and Project.

Requirements:


  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in the design, deployment, and operation of COMSEC devices and the supporting key mat distribution and accounting mechanisms.
  • Navy experience and/or expertise
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a valid passport
  • Ability to travel (10%)
