Position Summary:
The Commodity Manager handles category sourcing, contract negotiations and provides technical direction, advice, and counsel on a wide array of procurement issues, bringing broad depth and breadth of experience to handle buying in complex and/or rapidly changing marketplaces.Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops a variety of procurement documents, including purchase orders, solicitation requests, Requests for Proposals (RFP), and invitations for bids, and specifications; works with user departments to develop and clarify specifications for requested goods, materials and services.
- Establishes contracts and buying agreements through the sealed bid/proposal process
- Partner with the Finance, Legal and respective Functional team leads to develop Master Supply/Service Agreements (MSA), Letters of Intent (LOI), Statements of Work (SOW), etc.
- Evaluating, selecting, and recommending new vendors to management
- Lead the development of risk analyses, assessments and mitigation plans for categories of spend.
- Interact with stakeholders to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships in order to extract the greatest value in cost, security of supply, risk management, sustainability and innovation
- Manage the ongoing performance of our suppliers including objective setting and supplier evaluations where warrantedSkills, Qualifications, and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, economics, or a similar field
- At least 8 years’ experience in supply chain or vendor management
- Good negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers
- Advanced analytical skills.Assets:
- Experience working with Automotive OEMs and understanding of their quality expectations
- Experience working in international business
- Experience working within a Finance team of a small organization and/or providing financial support to a business unit on an ongoing basisWork Environment:
- Works in a fast-paced office environment with multiple priorities and competing demands.
- Hybrid schedule, 3 days on site
- Regular office hours with some requirements for additional work during busy times.
