And we wrote a best-selling career guide based on the advice we’ve heard over the last two decades.We create our primary impact through partnerships with leading social impact organizations and other mission-driven organizations who support this storytelling work on public television and connect our learner-driven career exploration programs and tools to people striving to find their paths in life.In this role, you’ll be part of the Production team that helps produce and shape our documentary series on and off the road.This is an mid-levelrole, and you’ll have room to learn, so the most important thing you can possess is a background in documentary production and the desire to jump right in.

What does a typical day in this position look like?


  • Working with the production team to film and field produce road trips and other production projects.
  • Supporting Directors and Producers during pre-production of assigned projects
  • Pre-production planning tasks such as: coordinating production logistics, preparing equipment needs, and researching and planning interview locations
  • Setting up, operating, and breaking down camera, lighting and audio equipment on location
  • Performing routine video and audio equipment maintenance in the field to ensure production is not interrupted 
  • Organizing media backup, organization, and handoff to the post team.
  • Traveling as needed to coordinate and/or wrap video productions, supporting projects with basic on set tasks such as equipment set up and breakdown
  • Traveling (in an RV) to facilitate road trips and video productions

What will set you up for success in this role?


  • Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, a degree/certificate from a film academy, related area of study or similar work experience
  • 2+ years of experience with documentary, television, reality, or feature film production
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other production management software
  • Working knowledge of industry standard camera, lighting and sound gear 
  • Effective in working under tight deadlines, prioritizing issues and managing concurrent assignments
  • Awards and/or previous film or video examples/samples, a plus

$23 - $27 an hourSalary Range DescriptionThe pay range listed is based on national compensation benchmark data and may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, variations in cost of labor, and in some cases, geographic location. The exact job offer will be determined based on several factors such as the candidate’s individual skills, qualifications and experience relative to the requirements of the role. The range displayed with the job posting represents the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across the U.S. The company also reviews and considers internal equity (current employee salary) when hiring new employees to the organization.

The range is the expected starting base salary for someone hired into this position with room to grow professionally, including increased earning potential beyond the starting pay range. Beyond a new hire’s base salary, Roadtrip Nation also offers all full-time employees a comprehensive employee benefit package, extensive holidays and time off, and tons of perks.Production Notes:This job will require driving on occasion as an essential part of the role, which requires holding an active driver’s license, passing a DMV background check per our insurance company's standards, and ability to take and pass RV drivers training. Roadtrip Nation has proactively addressed health and safety concerns by establishing a strict COVID-19 Filming Guidelines Manual and training our production crews on the standards and procedures therein.
