Cliff Berry, Inc. is hiring a Welder/Helper for our Fort Lauderdale location. This role combines welding duties with general assistance and maintenance tasks within the shop and yard area, and the ideal candidate will have strong welding skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support various operational activities effectively.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
- Perform welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, on a variety of materials and structures.
- Assist the welder in the setup and preparation of welding equipment.
- Assist in the construction, maintenance, and repair of metals and other materials.
- Operate and maintain cutting tools, torches, and welding machines.
- Assist with cleaning welds.
- Handle and transport materials and equipment.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machinery and tools.
- Organize tools and materials to ensure efficient workflow and easy access for staff.
- Conduct pre- and post-inspections on equipment and make repairs as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and yard area.
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces.
- Dispose of waste materials in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Perform small engine repair and maintenance on equipment such as pumps, boat motors, hydraulics, fittings, and valves.
- Assist with organizing tools and materials in the shop area.
- Comply with safety protocols and procedures.
- Drive company service vehicle as needed.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
Required Skills:
- Understanding of welding principles, techniques, and safety practices.
- Knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with warehouse and shop safety protocols.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles related to pumps, boat motors, hydraulics, fittings, and valves.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of welding experience, with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company standards.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of inventory control and management practices.
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop or walk in the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The employee should test in the acceptable range for vision, hearing, and respiratory functions.
Specific physical requirements include the following:
Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.Ability to stand, sit or walk for a minimum of 4 hours while conducting regular work dutiesAbility to respond to voice commands
