Job Description:
iParametrics supports a variety of disaster response and recovery programs at the federal, state, and local levels. One such program collaborates with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the START program, supporting emergency response and environmental remediation missions throughout the United States and its territories. We have an immediate need for a Scientist Level II to support a mission in the Atlanta area and additional needs for upcoming projects in other locales.The position will include work in the field and in office environments performing investigations and remediation of hazardous waste sites.
The selected candidate will be an integral member of a project team responsible for interfacing with internal and external clients, on-time submission of project deliverables, and clearly communicating with other project team members. The position is for a dedicated contract for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4.
Responsibilities:
- Sampling environmental media (soil, water, waste, air, etc.).
- Chemical and physical screening of samples in the field.
- Shipping samples to laboratories for analysis.
- Evaluating analytical results.
- Preparing reports of investigations.
- Determining Removal Actions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or similar with 1-2 years of experience related to environmental investigations or a Master’s Degree in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or similar.
- Must be eligible to work in the US and have a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in computers, MS Word, and Excel as well as smartphone/text usage.
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience related to hazardous site investigations.
- Spanish fluency is a plus.
- Experience in the applications of GIS/database management.
Special Position/Work Requirements:
- Collection of multi-media samples, on-site characterization of environmental samples, donning and doffing of PPE, use and applications of air monitoring and other environmental field instrumentation, and use of GPS.
- Evaluation of analytical data quality, environmental data interpretation, excellent writing, report preparation and computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
- Travel to project locations in EPA Region 4 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and 6 Tribes) will be required.
- Qualified candidates can work from home but must be able to work out of offices located in north metro Atlanta.
- Travel to project locations in other EPA Regions may be required from time-to-time to provide critical resource support.
