Sentran Electronics is an American manufacturer with a full range of current and voltage sensing components for today’s energy monitoring, conservation, control, and metering. We started out by designing and manufacturing large custom made split current transformers for electrical energy monitoring studies during the early 90’s. About the Position:
The Machinist performs all bench and machine operations to construct, diagnose and repair jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, etc. of above average difficulty. Collaborates on prototypes of new products and component parts as designed by Engineering. Takes ownership of departmental task(s) which may involve creative design, working drawings and complete machining.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 7-3:30pm
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promotes a safety-first atmosphere and works to achieve “0” safety incidents.
- Works under limited supervision and is responsible for the on-time completion of scheduled items. Designs fixtures and tools from concepts and has a good understanding of the products operations and basic Electro-mechanical functions.
- Quotes on producing tooling for production items.
- Works readily with Engineering on producing prototypes of new products.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance (PM’s) of toolroom equipment.
- Works closely with Engineering in development and design of new products.
- Fabricates component parts for prototype and production as required.
- Responsible for training in tool use, fixture set up, tool sharpening and machine shop equipment.
- Trains and manages employees conducting production machine shop work.
- Ensures manufacturability of products by focusing on core competencies and process capabilities of the manufacturing plant.
- Supports production in reducing/eliminating equipment and tooling downtime and scrap.
- Works as a team member in a positive proactive manor.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- This position requires good communication skills and inter-personal skills and a strong ability to communicate and work effectively in cross functional environments. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints. Requires attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks. This person must have above average working knowledge of all normal tool room equipment. CAD/CAM experience is preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), 2 years technical trade school or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years experience as a machinist/toolmaker.
- Journeyman status is preferred.
