Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team and drive the development of our technology platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for innovation. As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products, building out your team and aligning engineering initiatives with the company's strategic goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, hire and develop a high-performing engineering team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture.
- Set clear goals and provide regular feedback.
- Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior leaders to continually refine the technology strategy and roadmap.
- Ensure alignment of engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance product offerings.
- Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects.
- Implement best practices in project management, including Agile methodologies.
- Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to the engineering team.
- Ensure the architectural integrity, scalability, and security of the technology platform.
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback loops on coding standards.
- Drive the development of Saltbox's proprietary logistics platform, Parsel
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with product management, operations, and other departments to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Communicate engineering plans, progress, and challenges to stakeholders.
- Foster strong relationships with external partners and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, architecture, and best practices.
- Experience with Agile and other project management methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the logistics, warehousing, or e-commerce industry.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning.
- Experience with technologies such as Golang, Typescript, AWS, Kubernetes, and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).

Base Salary: $200,000-$250,000 plus bonus potential and generous stock options.
