The Manufacturing Engineer will support the implementation and sustainability of the lean manufacturing program by assisting in the development and improvement of manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods and supporting all departments in continuous improvement.
Roles & Responsibilities
1.Provide input into product design from the concept, preliminary & detail design phase.2.Track production related issues and improvement opportunities during the prototype phase.3.Work with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability.4.Define the most appropriate manufacturing methods.5.Own the 3P (Production Preparation Process) methodology and apply to all products.6.Work within TYCROP to embed Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.7.Assist in the development of an effective Change Management process.8.Develop Standard Work for manufacturing and assembly and assist supervisors with balancing work and managing bottlenecks.9.Facilitate designing and setting up assembly lines and production cells.10.Assist in the development of modular BOMS and configurator.11.Work with vendors and suppliers to develop and review part specification, pricing and delivery schedules.12.Design & facilitate building of custom tools, material handling carts & fixtures.13.Assist in make vs.
buy decisions.14.Collect data on Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity data to drive change and measure improvements.15.Complete ROI’s for capital expenses.16.Seek out new technologies, methods & materials.17.Select the most appropriate level of automation for the production volume and product variation.18.Define and implement a quality control system.19.Use the A3 process for problem solving and documenting projects.
Education & Experience
•Degree or diploma in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering. •3 – 5 years’ experience in the Manufacturing environment.
