BASIC FUNCTION
We seek a passionate and knowledgeable Sommelier/Beverage Service Manager to elevate our wine, beer, and spirits program ensuring member and guest satisfaction while meeting revenue and expense budget goals. The ideal candidate will be directly responsible for the success of the club’s beverage program. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Curates and maintains an extensive, diverse wine list that complements our menu offerings with input from the Food and Beverage Director, Assistant Club Manager, and Club Manager. Manages wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage which includes our wine future program.Shares wine and beverage knowledge with our members and their guests in a professional and approachable manner. Plans promotional strategies and materials for beverage service; develops recipes to improve the beverage program for members and guests.Develops standard operating procedures to ensure bars and dining rooms are set-up and operated efficiently.Maintains an adequate supply of liquors, wines, beer and other beverages through use of an effective inventory management system.Recruits, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates bartenders according to established club procedures.Develops product and revenue control systems and procedures to help reduce theft.Ensures all laws applicable to food and beverage operations are consistently followed as well as policies and procedures established by the club.Works with Assistant Food and Beverage Managers, Culinary team and others to ensure exciting, imaginative, and efficient beverage service in all outlets.Interacts with purchasing department relative to the procurement and receiving of beverage products and supplies.Develops financial records and reports as required.Works with the accounting department to ensure that all record-keeping procedures are consistently followed.Handles complaints from club members, guests and others relative to the departments involved.Assists with private parties and service in food and beverage outlets when necessary.Plans and develops training programs and professional development opportunities for himself or herself and all other beverage and dining room personnel.Keeps current with changing member preferences and industry trends relative to the beverage operation.Conducts scheduled meetings with service staff.Attends staff and management meetings.Schedules wine and beer samplings with distributors to continuously improve variety and quality of beverages available to club members and guests.Monitors bar closing procedures (checklist) and assures the area is secure.May serve as club’s opening or closing manager or manager on duty.Maintains a service log regarding any notable member or guest behavior.Schedules maintenance of draft beer tapping.Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by the food and beverage director.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 years previous experience in fine dining and beverage operations, as Bar Manager, Beverage Manager, or Dining Manager.Proficient in Microsoft Office softwareExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMultiple Wine Certifications through WSET, MCS, or CSW Bachelors degree in hospitality or business preferred All job applicants at this company who have been offered employment will need to undergo testing for the presence of illegal drugs as a condition for employment.
