Description:

They are related to elimination of plastic waste and fighting climate change. To achieve those goals Braskem has a dedicated team to support all the businesses and corporate functions.
This Sustainable Development (SD) Manager is a senior level management position that will lead a team of 7 specialists and analyst that works mainly in the overall SD management, Climate Change, Water Security, SD Tools and Recycling. The team is located in Brazil (5), Germany (1) and US (1).
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support the business decision making process on their business strategy that would impact Braskem SD long term goals.
- Support Braskem products and services portfolio improvements globally.
- Support the Innovation and Technology team's decision-making process to enhance the team's impact in achieving Braskem's long-term objectives in SD.
- Coordinate with his team the Governance process on SD, the long-term SD goal follow-up; the Tools and Concepts harmonizations process, the long-term climate change goals follow-up and strategic review.
- Coordinate with the Institutional Relationship team Braskem’s advocacy strategy in partnership with SD Associations, Chemical, Plastics and Industrial Association in the SD field.
- Engage on external working groups that deal with chemicals and plastics products impacts on sustainable development globally.
- Support the relationship with the value chain downstream and investors.
- Support the knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives to increase the awareness and the results of Braskem and its value chains.
- Coordinate with the Communication team and with the Investor Relationship team the communication process with all stakeholders.
- This position will be responsible for supporting all the businesses, and corporate functions that would impact Braskem SD long term goals following the guidance of Braskem SD Policy.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience with fulfilling sustainable development business engagement in the chemical industry or similar.
- Experience SD-informed decision-making process with science-based tools (like LCA, DfE, Sustainable Portfolio Management…).
- High level of behavioral Braskem competencies (self-knowledge, adaptability, collaboration and inclusion, comprehensive entrepreneurship, decision-making, people development).
- Personal commitment to Safety, Ethics, Compliance and DE&I.
- Organized, disciplined, detail-oriented, and action-oriented.
- Experience with leading projects and working on teams.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Excellent in system thinking.
- Able to independently seek out knowledge and resources to respond to sustainable development challenges.
- Ability to analyze and summarize complex data and information.
- Flexibility is required when working with colleagues who are in different time zones.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Languages: English (required); Portuguese (beneficial); Spanish (beneficial).
- Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, or material engineering. PhD or MSc preferred.
- Sustainable development Post graduation, MSc, PhD highly beneficial.
- Strong experience in the sustainable development area
- Experience with the chemical and petrochemical industry is highly beneficial.
