Position Overview
The Senior FP&A Manager with a quantitative background will be a key player in the finance team, leveraging advanced quantitative skills to enhance financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making. This role involves developing sophisticated financial models, conducting in-depth data analysis, and providing actionable insights to support Xapo’s financial goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in quantitative analysis, extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Enhanced Data Analysis and Financial Modeling:Advanced statistical and mathematical expertise to our team. This will enable us to develop more sophisticated financial models, improve the accuracy of our forecasts, and provide deeper insights into our financial performance. Their skill set will be invaluable in identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities that we might otherwise overlook.
Supporting Strategic Initiatives:Deep dive into unit economics, using the raw data we have and applying a finance lens to the analysis. The output and conclusions produced will be used as input to our financial model.
Improved Risk Management:Can develop and implement complex risk assessment models to help us better understand and mitigate potential risks. This proactive approach will safeguard our assets and enhance our strategic decision-making.
Automation of Financial Processes:By leveraging their programming skills, a Quant can automate various financial processes, reducing manual effort and the potential for human error. This will not only increase our operational efficiency but also allow our team to focus on more strategic tasks.
Optimisation of Investment Strategies:- We could even use him/her for our investment strategies, to assess the efficiency of our capital allocation from treasury (from a finance perspective, as a second pair of eyes)
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PhD) in a quantitative discipline is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a significant portion in a quantitative role within the banking or financial services industry or in a VC backed scale up.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing advanced financial models and quantitative analysis techniques.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB and experience with financial modelling tools like Excel, VBA, and SQL.
- Deep understanding of statistical methods, econometrics, and machine learning algorithms.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Anaplan, Oracle NetSuite).
- Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
