About the Role
The General Counsel for Figure Technology Solutions and its subsidiaries, affiliates and successors (the “Company”), will be responsible for legal affairs and regulatory compliance for the Company and will lead it through its eventual IPO. This is a senior executive position with key influence over the most important strategic decisions within the Company including capital, regulatory and product strategy across the Company’s core HELOC product as well its product suite and business model expansion.
The General Counsel will lead collaboratively and cross functionally and partner with key stakeholders across the Company.
What you’ll do
- Manage a team providing legal counsel and support to lending product and operational groups focused on direct and white-label loan originations
- Lead across corporate, commercial, capital markets, product, regulatory and compliance teams to deliver key organizational goals while ensuring cross functional collaboration
- Prepare the Company’s internal legal environment and operations for an IPO as well as setting up the securities compliance and governance infrastructure required post-IPO.
- Ensure the company is staying in front of a dynamic regulatory landscape across technology and financial services regulation
- Provide senior support for regulatory examinations, external audits, and third party diligence requests
- Work cross-functionally to gain a deeper understanding of other teams' processes and the impact of policy on their businesses
- Serving as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors including: monitoring and implementing corporate governance for the Board and its committees; maintaining accurate Board records including minutes of Board and committee meetings and their actions, and serving as key consultant to Board of Directors and executive team about corporate governance issues and ensuring the Board has adequate resources to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities to the Company’s shareholders.
What We Look For
- 15+ years of combined, preferably at both a law firm and a mortgage lending company or government agency
- J.D. and membership with at least one state bar in good standing
- Strong project-management skills, with a proven ability to coordinate across departments and functions
- Strong entrepreneurialism, work ethic and hands-on approach
- Ability to address challenging issues while remaining objective and independent
- Ability to build technical processes and work with product teams to provide compliance related requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of consumer finance laws and regulations such as TILA/Regulation Z, ECOA/Regulation B, FCRA, FACTA, FDCPA, SCRA, BSA/AML, EFTA, UDAAP, and GLBA – HMDA a plus
- Proven ability to take a project from start to finish
- Ability to handle several projects at once while staying organized, detail oriented and diligent
- Strong communication skills - ability to articulate verbally and in writing, plans, processes, policies and issues to stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Public company experience is preferred

For CO, NY, CA and WA residents, the salary range for this position is $248,000 - $310,000/year with Bonus and Equity. Actual compensation may vary based on individual candidate experience and location.Depending on your residential location certain laws might regulate the way Figure manages applicant data.
