About Pikkit
At Pikkit, we’re building the home for sports betting. Today, we’re a social sports betting app with over half a million users and 13,000+ 5 star reviews. After launching just 20 months ago, we’ve tracked over 15 billion dollars of legal US sports wagers. We’re constantly featured in industry reports from Houlihan Lokey, SBC, and more. We’re also backed by leading venture capitalists including Founder Collective, Baukunst, Matrix, and more. We’re fewer than 15 people; we have an office in Flatiron in NYC and are all in-person.
We move fast, build high quality systems, and don't take ourselves too seriously. 😊
About this role
Backend engineering at Pikkit is an exciting role to help us scale our systems as we grow. We don't expect you to have experience in our exact stack, but we do expect strong engineering fundamentals and a strong interest in reliability, scalability, and product experience. You'll work on things like:
Database optimizations, backend systems, and more
Scaling our platform for increasing usage
Stress testing our system and running simulations to identify areas to improve performance
Nice to have, but not necessary:
3+ years of software engineering experience with building at the product/application layer
Strong experience with MongoDB
Strong initiative and ability to thrive in ambiguity — startup or personal project experience is a major plus
The desire to wear a bunch of hats, learn new skills and have significant product ownership
