The United States Space Force (USSF), Space Systems Command (SSC) is planning to modernize the Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS) located at Space Launch Delta (SLD) 30 Western Range (WR) Vandenberg Space Force Base (SFB), California (CA) and SLD 45 Eastern Range (ER) Patrick SFB, Florida (FL). Modernization of the LTRS is required to realize the following USSF goals: Spaceport-level launch capacity of over 300 launches per year, range agility to sustain multiple space launches and tests daily, launch responsiveness with the ability to launch on demand, and cyber mission resilience to enable operations to continue in contested and hostile threat environments. We are pleased to announce the opening for a Hardware Engineer who will join our Digital Transformation, Acquisition, Modernization, and Modification (DTAMM) Program in Vandenburg Space Force Base (SFB), California and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces.
You will be part of our DTAMM team known for directly supporting the modernization of the Launch and Test Range Systems located at SLD 30 WR and SLD 45 ER. Work is expected to be primarily done via Telework in reasonable proximity to the Vandenburg Space Force Base to enable on-site customer meetings and local team tag-up meetings as required.
Responsibilities:
- You will apply hardware engineering expertise to support the modernization and upgrade of SLD 30 WR to a future architecture that accomplishes USSF goals.
- You will research and advise on the selection of vendors, technologies, and solutions options to accomplish range modernization goals.
- You will provide hardware engineering support to improvement/modernization projects at SLD 30 WR that design, develop, test and transition capabilities to an operational status.
- You will be conduct hardware testing routines; develop and execute project plans, budgets, and schedules; and create documentation of work and results.
- You will interact at a variety of points within the enterprise to assist in implementation of projects, to include as required other contractor personnel, vendors / suppliers, and Government customer representatives.
- You will work with the DTAMM Program Management, systems engineering, software, and other hardware engineering team members as required to implement approved modernization efforts within specified performance, cost, and schedule objectives to ensure a seamless transition of new technologies into the ranges.
- You will provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions will need to be imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
- You must have a bachelor’s and nine (9) years or more experience; master’s and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience in a technical field such as Engineering.
- Experience applying principles and techniques of engineering while performing research, analysis, hardware / software / systems design, testing or operations.
- Ability to assist in analysis of user / mission needs and existing system capabilities and identify gaps and solutions.
- Capability to apply innovative techniques in investigating solutions and designing range improvement/modernization projects.
- The capability to design, develop, test, and implement hardware solutions.
- Capability to work independently, participate on teams and lead a task, project or team while requiring minimal guidance and direction from more senior level staff.
- You must possess or can obtain an active Secret clearance.
- You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Eastern and Western range instrumentation, capabilities, and technologies.
- Experience designing and developing range or instrumentation upgrades or modernization projects.
- Experience with research, design, development, and testing of information processing hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and electrical components.
- Experience developing technical specifications for production.
- Experience analyzing hardware configuration and processing solutions.
- Experience testing hardware conformance to specifications.
- Experience effectively communicating at senior levels within an organization and meeting with stakeholders to formulate, review, and execute technical plans and produce deliverable items.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
