Director of Communications
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Director of Communications who specializes in shaping narratives, building brands, and driving impactful communication strategies. As the Director of Communications, you will oversee and execute communication strategies for our diverse portfolio of clients across various industries. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying brand identity and messaging and crafting compelling narratives that resonate with our clients' target audiences to drive business growth.
The ideal candidate will blend strategic thinking, creative flair, and excellent communication skills to effectively convey our agency's mission, values, and offerings. We specialize in crafting strategic marketing solutions that drive business growth and enhance brand visibility. Our team is comprised of talented individuals who are passionate about creativity, collaboration, and exceeding client expectations. You’ll work with team members across our service lines, including Strategic, Creative, and Interactive. In addition, you will lead projects that support our clients’ communications efforts and drive agency success. Responsibilities As a Director of Communications, you will be responsible for:
- Strategic Communication Planning
- Develop comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the goals and objectives of our agency and individual client projects. Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure messaging consistency and effectiveness
- Media Relations
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure press coverage and maximize exposure for our clients and agency. Proactively identify media opportunities and pitch compelling stories to relevant outlets
- Content Creation
- Lead the development of engaging content across various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, social media posts, and marketing collateral
- Ensure content is tailored to target audiences and aligns with strategic objectives
- Brand Management
- Safeguard and enhance the reputation and image of our clients by maintaining brand integrity across all communication channels. Develop and enforce brand guidelines to ensure consistency in tone, voice, and visual identity
- Client Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel on communication matters and ensuring their needs and expectations are met. Build strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and delivery of high-quality work
- Risk Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for risk management and communication during crises or sensitive situations. Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to mitigate reputational risks and maintain stakeholder trust effectively across clients
- Strategic Growth
- Proactively seek opportunities to collaborate with TrendyMinds colleagues for organic growth among current clients as well as support new business opportunities. Assist with writing proposals and participating in new business meetings
- Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, support, and feedback to foster their growth and development
- Delegate tasks effectively and foster a collaborative work environment
What you'll need
- Proven experience (at least 8+ years ) in communications roles, with a focus on earned media, media relations, and content creation
- Robust networking and writing skills. The ideal candidate will actively contribute to day-to-day account operations, particularly creating and executing earned media strategies and storytelling for our clients
- Well-versed in digital/social media to lead the development of engaging content across various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media posts.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Pulse on the latest news and media trends to proactively identify media opportunities. Pitch compelling stories to relevant outlets, ensuring content is tailored to target audiences and strategic objectives.
- Crisis and risk management communication experience and the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling
