Position Overview:
Our Fintech Software/Hedge Fund organization based in Charlotte and Greenwich, CT is seeking a Data Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. As a Data Engineer at Alpha Theory, your contributions will be critical in supporting our SQL Server database administration as well as the designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure, and ETL processes. You will work closely in support of our Data Science team, and you will be at the forefront of shaping our data infrastructure while contributing to our transition towards modern tools and technologies including AWS and Snowflake.Alpha Theory is a company that prides itself on an inclusive and transparent culture that attracts curious teammates who are excited about tackling big ideas.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in database administration of our current SQL Server instances as well as provide support and experience related to our AWS and Snowflake migrations.
- Utilize strong SQL skills in support of various SQL projects across the organization.
- Provide support of our current data science SQL infrastructure while helping us make the transition to a more modern and scalable infrastructure.
- Build and maintaining robust data pipelines that ingest, process, and deliver data to data science teams and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and ensure data is accessible for analysis.
- Ensure data pipelines are scalable, reliable, and meet performance requirements.
- Design and develop modern automated tooling and scripts for data validation and monitoring and taking corrective actions as needed.
- Provide input, experience, and support, related to our variety of upcoming projects to transition to modern technologies.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- 2-3 years of experience as a data engineer or software engineering experience with strong SQL and SQL Server Administration skills
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (or comparable experience)
- Expertise in SQL, SQL Server Administration, Git (GitHub).
- Expertise in ETL processes and data pipeline development & management
- Experience in data quality assurance, including data cleansing and validation.
- Knowledge of database systems, data warehousing, and data modeling
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with financial data
- Experience with Python and Git
- Familiarity with data science and analytics concepts
- Preferred experience with tools and technologies commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Apache Spark, Airflow, Docker, AWS, etc.)
- Familiar with OpenAPI standards (FastAPI)
