FIELD ENGINEER POSITION SUMMARY:
- Fault detection, isolation, and remediation.
- Performing configuration, maintenance, & testing of network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, Ethernet microwave radios, and DC power plants.
- Skilled at managing assigned tasks with little supervision.
- Knowledge of fiber optics.
- Operation and use of fiber optic test equipment to include: OTDRs, scopes, and light meters.
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, walk, move, lift, carry… equipment ( >20lb) for the duration of the work day
- Basic knowledge of telecommunication and/or electrical distribution systems, engineering principles, constructability and design standards is a plus.
- Keeps the Operations Manager informed about project status and issues regarding the field team and issues that may impact client relations.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- High school or equivalent
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in a related field.
REQUIRED LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:
- Must have a clean Driving record.
- No traffic violations in last 5 years
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint- based background check.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Manage and control execution of day-to-day activities in the assigned areas.
- Work with different departments to ensure that projects are being completed in a timely manner.
- Making sure that the network is operating at peak performance.
- Working with contractors and vendors to gather quotes and repair existing infrastructure.
- Ensuring that customer or network issues are taken care of in a timely manner.
- Maintaining records.
- Installing equipment at customer premises or core sites.
- Be able to manage projects within Conterras systems.
- Dispatching or working on trouble tickets 24/7.
- Must be able to travel 2 ½ - 3 hours or more for on call site resolution.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of Telecom Industry standards.
- Knowledge of equipment used within the network and at customer premises.
- Deadline-driven with strong analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Should be able to communicate in a clear manner.
- Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions.
- Strong external and internal customer service skills.
- Have solid computer skills.
- Be able to multitask.
