The Distribution Section Lead is responsible for the profitability, quality, and schedule of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems for our Utility clients. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project deliverables are achieved to the highest standard while interfacing with key cross-functional groups (PM, CAD, Accounting, etc).

What you will do:


  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers, project managers, assistant project managers and designers.
  • Utilize an extensive knowledge of clients’ standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing your teams design efforts. 
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure projects will comply with all specifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • Review and approve the technical drawings for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
  • Evaluate the capacity and efficiency of existing systems.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Oversee the execution of distribution system projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ensure that the distribution system is in compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
  • Implement safety procedures and best practices for the distribution system.
  • Manage the budget for distribution engineering projects.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation of all distribution system activities.

What we are looking for:


  • Proven experience in electrical distribution system design and management.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
  • Memberships and active participation in discipline specific professional organizations such as IEEE.

Your background:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred) from an ABET accredited university.
  • 10+ years’ experience of underground and overhead distribution design.
  • P.E. is required.
  • PMP is highly advantageous.
  • Experience working on ComEd, Southern Company, Georgia Power or similar large utility systems.
