Job Description:


This position requires an individual with an extensive background and/or experience in human factors, ergonomics and safety.  The job involves incident investigations, including accident reconstruction.  Projects require field work, investigation, analysis, reports and the potential for testifying in court.  The candidate should have experience participating in or managing projects of moderate to large complexity and/or size.  Candidate will also provide Human Factors expertise, including multi-disciplinary projects related to accidents, their cause and prevention, human cognitive limitations and response capabilities.

 Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating activities of small to large scale client projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed timing and financial constraints by performing duties personally or in conjunction with other consultants. Assistance and participation in all phases of project management from proposal through closing.  Project duties to include recruitment, staffing, logistics and work plan as well as technical analysis based on scientific principles.  Work will include research to obtain and review technical data, scientific literature and standards.  Professional certifications and a good publication record are required.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for project personnel.
  • Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Prepares/reviews status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • May work under the direction of a Senior Consultant regarding any of the above responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:


Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field. Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Experimental or Cognitive Psychology, or related field preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.CHFP (Certified Human Factors Professional), CPE (Certified Professional  Ergonomist), or CUXP (Certified User Experience Professional) desirable.

Experience Requirements:


Five years’ work and/or academic experience in a forensic related or relevant industrial position preferred.   Familiarity with some of the following:   Occupational and consumer product safety, development of product warnings or instructions.  Authoring of high quality technical reports and/or peer-reviewed publications.  Preferred experience in consulting industry.  Strong background in experimental design and statistical analysis.   Evidence examination and preservation.   Background in forensic field; ability to work directly with insurance industry representatives and attorneys and provide expert testimony as required.

 Compensation will be made up of a competitive base salary as well as bonus potential determined by your own individual performance and the performance of the organization overall.
