About This Role


CT Operators at ESi work on a team of technologists to provide nondestructive imaging of artifacts and exemplar components during forensic inspections. They image a wide array of products from industrial clients and post-process CT data into visualizations to inform engineers, attorneys, clients, and stakeholders involved in litigation. In addition to operating the scanner, qualified applicants should be comfortable in a lab setting and possess skills in some of the following areas: macro/micro photography, materialography, microscopy, fixture design and fabrication, mechanical, structural, electrical, safety, automotive, and audio/visual services. Candidates should have exemplary interpersonal skills and be able to work with a wide variety of personalities.

They should be capable of managing multiple tasks with multiple staff members, identifying areas of optimization within the organization, and successfully implementing planned improvements. The role involves studying, recording, testing, repairing, calibrating, developing, and improving processes, products, and equipment. Candidates must have a firm understanding of organizational hierarchy and dynamics to effectively navigate and support different departments.

Key Responsibilities


  • Operate, maintain, and coordinate service of CT scanner
  • Supports consultants in project work including photography, microscopy, spectroscopy, industrial radiography, fixture design for materials, mechanical and electrical projects
  • Capable of communicating/working directly with internal and external clients
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment
  • Capable of identifying organizational needs
  • Capable of SOP development and/or implementation
  • Capable of learning and operating technological equipment
  • Capable of mentoring/training technologists
  • Maintain required certifications 
  • Interacts with clients, maintains safety and control of area where data is being collected or test is being performed
  • Leads routine inspections
  • Generally able to independently determine the best way to process and view collected data
  • Able to safely conduct field inspections and tests
  • Skilled in the operation of test equipment 
  • Generates high-quality internal and external work product in a timely manner
  • Maintains calibrated equipment (and associated certificates and paperwork)

Qualifications


Education & Experience Requirements


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent; or five+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills


  • Intermediate skills in VGSTUDIO MAX and Microsoft Office.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


  • X-Ray or CT Certification 

Other Skills/Abilities or Other Qualifications


  • Comfortable working with their hands
  • Willing to learn and operate technical equipment in the laboratory 
  • Experience developing and applying new or routine methods or techniques
  • Mathematical aptitude and ability to operate sophisticated lab equipment
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
