About the Director of Engineering Role:


The Director of Engineering will run all of the engineering activities and projects within an organization and make sure these are aligned with the established policies and objectives of the organization. In this role, this person will play an active part in the development and completion of projects, meet and report back to the upper management, plan and monitor work schedules, and work with multiple and diverse teams.

The Director of Engineering Responsibilities:


  • Implements best practice engineering methods
  • Maintains good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Reports to top management
  • Provides technical guidance to engineering teams and top management
  • Supports established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies
  • Oversees progress and timeliness of projects
  • Reviews project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget
  • Finds and implements ways to improve cost-efficiency
  • Plans and coordinates the work of engineering staff
  • Oversees engineering staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives
  • Recruits additional engineering staff as needed
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • Provides training and mentoring as needed
  • Collaborates with the marketing team to determine market potential for new products
  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications and Skills: 


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 7 or more years of work experience as a Software Engineer
  • Expertise in modern JavaScript Libraries & Frameworks (React.js, Redux.js, Node.js, Express.js)
  • Experienced with AWS APIs (Lambda, SQS, S3)
  • Experienced with designing and scaling NoSQL Databases (Preferred: MongoDB)
  • Experienced with Testing Frameworks (Jest, Mocha) to troubleshoot/build reusable and efficient components
  • Ability to manage and lead the teams
  • Action-mindset
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development
  • Excellent financial skills and ability to analyze financial data
  • Must be willing to travel if needed
  • Must be willing to work extended hours if needed
  • Valid work authorization required
