The Section Manager, Construction Engineering
is responsible for the quality, schedule and productivity of the work as well as the team, software and other resources required to exceed client and MEC requirements. You will be the single point of responsibility and accountability for the project. Responsibilities include pre-construction coordination, client relations, material buy outs, submittal review and approval, field measurement coordination, material inspections, weekly progress meetings, cost control, schedule control, quality control, change management, construction coordination, punch list and close out phases.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- RFP/RFQ process including; site visits, client meetings, scope development, preparation of project approach, assisting with technical plans and schedules.
- Creation of KPI's, budgets, and estimates.
- Manage the quality, schedule, and budget of self and subordinate project to exceed client and Milhouse requirements
- Design and manage design to client and regulatory requirements
- Keep MEC management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner
- Shop drawing review and disposition
- Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation
- Strategically mentor and develop his/her team
- Develop Milhouse standards
- Prepare proposal development
- Stamp plans
- Assist management as directed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Capabilities:
- Strong knowledge of construction management / construction administration policies and procedures for a variety of clients.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems in a pro-active manner.
- Cultivate effective relationships with clients, and team members.
- Strong project management experience.
- Experience with IDOT/CDOT/Cook county.
- Proficient managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Education/Experience
- 8+ years of progressive Civil Engineering Experience
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
- Licensed, P.E. in the State of IL
- Demonstrated experience and success working with IDOT, CDOT, Tollway, and area municipalities.
