What’s the role?
The BI team is responsible for exposing Jellyvision’s data to internal teams in a usable format, including modeling data from multiple sources and managing the tools that Jellyvision teams use to access that modeled data. This role will lead that team and manage a team of data analysts towards that goal.
What you’ll do to be successful
1.)
Be an advocate for the use of data across the organization
- Work with stakeholders from all parts of the organization to identify reporting needs and determine how to best solve those needs via data modeling, dashboards and ad hoc reports
- Drive adoption of BI tools, including providing training as needed and analyzing report and dashboard usage to identify areas of low usage and proactively communicating with those teams to understand how the BI tools can better meet their needs
- Identify meaningful data from a variety of sources (Salesforce, Snowflake, Product databases, etc) to help us run the business better and partner with other teams to feed that into the BI layer:
- Partner with our data engineering team to translate business stakeholder needs into technical requirements for data collection and pipelines, including providing input on the decision making process of structuring our various data sources.
- Success is measured by having a clearly defined structure and workflow from both upstream with Data Engineering and downstream with customers from all departments of Jellyvision.
2.) Ensure reporting excellence
- Model raw data in our data warehouse using SQL and translate it into an output that is usable in the BI layer with an emphasis on modular code, execution speed and scalability.
- Manage the BI layer (Looker), including handling user access, organizing reports/dashboards, and building new reports/dashboards as needed.
- Own data model standards for the team, documentation and resources
- Create and refine processes to handle inbound data requests from across the organization and address these in a timely manner.
- Success is defined by providing all customers what they need to make best possible decisions as a business as well as minimizing errors occurring further upstream.
3.) Manage a Data Analyst team to support all of the above
- Coach and develop a BI analyst and contribute as player coach when needed
- Success measured by continued growth of BI Analyst and increase in their scope of work.
Experience & skills you’ll need
- 5+ years of BI, analytics, or data science experience
- Experience working closely with stakeholders from multiple teams and translating their data-related questions and needs into data modeling and dashboard requirements
- Experience working with multiple messy data sources, structured and unstructured, feeding them into a BI presentation layer like Looker
- Advanced data modeling skills, with an emphasis on applying traditional software development principles like modularity and DRY code
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency with database languages, such as SQL and data modeling frameworks or tools, such as dbt
- Proficiency with Snowflake
- Experience in the healthcare data space, including electronic medical records, insurance claims, or other health data would be a plus
- Experience with HIPAA, PHI, and PII privacy practices would be a plus

- Location: Remote
- Starting Salary: $125,000 - $135,000
