The Junior Crew Chief will assist the Crew Chief in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the crew and ensuring the successful completion of assigned projects. This position requires a strong understanding of crew management, safety protocols, and technical expertise to maintain and repair equipment used in the field.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Support the Crew Chief in planning, organizing, and directing crew activities to achieve project goals efficiently and safely.
- Assist in assigning tasks and responsibilities to crew members based on their skills and expertise.
- Participate in the training and development of crew members to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
- Collaborate with the Crew Chief to monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs and servicing to minimize downtime.
- Assist in creating and implementing safety protocols, ensuring all crew members follow safety guidelines and regulations.
- Keep detailed records of crew activities, equipment maintenance, and project-related documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the Crew Chief and crew members, providing updates and feedback to promote a cohesive work environment.
- Act as a point of contact in the absence of the Crew Chief, resolving issues and addressing concerns as they arise.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, leading by example to foster a positive and productive work atmosphere.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training is a plus.
- Proven experience in crew management, construction, or a related field 3+ years.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction or field operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with crew members and management.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for project tracking and documentation.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in challenging weather conditions and outdoor environments.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Leadership qualities with a focus on teamwork and fostering a positive work culture.
