About the job: Senior Manager EVE SW - Berlin
ZEDEDA is pioneering a cloud-native approach to visibility, control, and protection of edge applications at IoT scale with the industry’s first edge virtualization software. To scale our global software engineering organization, we are expanding our EVE-OS development in Germany. We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Leader that has deep experience and a passion for Open Source projects. The ideal candidate is seeking new challenges and wants to make their mark by contributing to the design and pioneering the world of edge computing.
ZEDEDA understands that most of the world’s tech problems now can only be done through a collective effort of a community and not just by one individual or one company. At ZEDEDA we believe in continuing to innovate edge virtualization and cultivating it to help the onslaught of edge computing management. This role will be responsible for driving the designing, developing and testing of ZEDEDA’s contributions to Linux Foundation Project Edge Virtualization Engine (EVE). This leader will be responsible for the overall success of our open source EVE-OS software development efforts. This candidate will work with our CTO to cultivate and encourage open source developers to contribute to the EVE-OS project.
They will participate in LF-EDGE community events and take a leadership position in maturing the EVE-OS through the Open Source project life cycle. The candidate will take responsibility for delivering well-documented products and working with engineers both internal to Zededa and in the Open Source community to drive the vision of the product. Qualifications
- Candidates should have a track record of successful product delivery in the open sources industry.
- Contributed to an open source project in the past, a record with upstreaming features in the open source environment.
- Demonstrated experience building software in partnership with the open source communityThe ability to plan, organize & execute on software products in a timely manner to a high quality.
- Demonstrated technical and people leadership skills, an appreciation for open source.
- Passion for high quality, usable, fast and reliable software
- Management experience with multiple reporting teams
- Experience with hands on software architecture, design and implementation in all areas of technology, architecture, data design, and user interface
- Create a productive and fun environment for teams of highly skilled engineers to flourishIn-depth knowledge of Linux OS in the areas of networking, hypervisors, virtualization software etc.
- Substantial experience with Linux kernel internals and concepts a understanding Linux kernel development principles
- Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineersUnderstanding of agile software development methodologies
- Experience with driving product and process quality improvements across the organization.
- Appreciation for best practices in relation to building secure products.
