EM Investment Partners (EMIP) is the private equity real estate investment arm of EquityMultiple, which houses the investment and asset management functions of the company. Managing Director - Real Estate Investments
We are seeking a Managing Director - Real Estate Investments to lead our Equity Investments team that originates, structures, underwrites, and executes equity investments (LP, Co-GP & GP). You will work across asset classes and markets, and be leading a team at the forefront of real estate lending and technology. This role entails three primary functions - serving as a strategic leader for our equity investments business, leading our equity investments team, and serving as a deal leader on your own investment opportunities.
There will also be opportunities to collaborate with our Debt Investments team.
Core Responsibilities of This Role Include:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement our overall investment strategy in line with market trends and investor expectations.
- Provide visionary leadership to guide the growth, profitability, and market positioning of our investment classes.
- Identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities within the real estate private equity landscape.
Team Leadership:
- Lead a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Work cross functionally with Asset Management, Marketing, Investor Relations, Operations, and Product & Engineering teams.
Investments Leadership:
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of real estate investment opportunities.
- Oversee due diligence processes, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and legal considerations.
- Drive negotiations, structuring, and closing of real estate transactions.
- Support deals being led by other members of your team as needed. Serve as an escalation point for sponsor negotiations, review final materials, and ensure the team is focused on the most lucrative investment opportunities.
- Collaborate with our Debt Investments team to provide insight and support as needed.
We Are Looking for Someone With:
- 12+ years of real estate transaction experience across both equity and debt investments, and a diversity of asset classes and geographies
- Proven leadership ability
- Self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Team player with a humble attitude
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent command of Excel and best practices of financial modeling, pro forma creation, real estate valuation, sensitivity and income and expense analysis
- Familiarity with various legal documents including joint venture operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, guaranty documents, and intercreditor agreements
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills
- Excited about our value proposition to both sponsors and investors
Additional Information:
- Location: This position is based out of our NYC office. We currently operate in a hybrid work model with two core in-office days.
- Compensation: The base salary range for this role based in New York City is $120,000 to $220,000 plus significant variable compensation. The final compensation package will be determined on an individual level based on the candidate’s skills and experience.
