About the Role:
The Senior Manager, Systems Engineering will lead a team of engineers and be responsible for building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure systems across on-prem and Cloud environments, ultimately owning end-to-end availability and performance of key services within the organization as it continues its shift towards Cloud. This role will align with other leaders on strategic direction and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects, managing resources and providing technical guidance to the team.
This role is expected to lead the team by example, being heavily involved in driving process improvement and quality technical execution that establishes credibility.
What you will do:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:o Lead and manage a team of systems engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals and ensure seamless integration with application development.o Drive continuous improvement in infrastructure processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and reliability in the existing on-prem environment.o Oversee the development and implementation of monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to ensure rapid detection and resolution of issues.o Foster a culture of automation and self-healing systems to reduce manual intervention, improve operational efficiency, and prevent problem recurrence.o Develop and maintain technical standards, best practices, and methodologies for systems engineering that align with modern, Cloud-native environments.o Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, making recommendations for adopting new tools and practices that enhance infrastructure capabilities.o Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements, implementing best practices for data protection and risk management.o Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand system needs, and provide technical recommendations.
About You:
o Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field.o 3+ years leading an engineering team, with a focus on infrastructure and SRE. o Experience managing and scaling on-prem infrastructure services.o Proven track record of migrating services from on-prem to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).o Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and experience with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.o Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby.o Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.o Solid understanding of networking, security, and performance optimization in large-scale distributed systems.o Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively motivate a team while influencing and driving change across teams and departments.o Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.o Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to systems engineering.
