Position Summary


Miovision is seeking a Director of Computer Vision with extensive experience in leading and managing Computer Vision (CV) development teams. Reporting to the Senior Director of Enabling Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in steering exceptionally talented individuals, refining development methodologies, planning resource allocation and team expansion, and ultimately ensuring the delivery of high-quality products.Miovision offers both hardware and software products designed to generate valuable insights that optimize city traffic networks.

Our Computer Vision team develops the core vision capabilities that drive our products. Your success will depend on fostering close and effective collaboration between the CV team and all of Miovision’s engineering teams and product managers, with you at the helm.

Key Accountabilities


  • Research and Innovation: Guide and encourage the research initiatives within the team to stay ahead of industry trends and advancements in computer vision technology. Foster an environment of continuous learning and exploration. Support team members in publishing research papers, attending conferences, and contributing to the broader CV and machine learning community. Ensure that research efforts align with Miovision’s strategic goals and contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions.
  • Execution: Ensure high-quality development, predictable releases, and meticulous roadmap planning and tracking, including detailed plans for team staffing, budgeting, compensation, and contributions to product scope. Lead all aspects of the CV team's software development lifecycle, continually enhancing processes, practices, quality, and overall efficiency. Promote innovation while supporting planned development efforts. Report on team progress and key metrics.
  • Team Health: Set goals, engage in succession planning, identify emerging leaders, and provide coaching to support both personal and professional growth. Identify and recommend training and development opportunities for team members and yourself. Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings.
  • Inter-team Coordination: Collaborate closely with product managers to maintain cross-team alignment, focus, and delivery. Set and communicate ambitious high-level team goals, socialize development roadmaps, manage dependencies, and advocate for solutions that benefit the entire organization.

Skills/Qualifications


  • 8+ years of experience directly managing software development teams
  • Experience in managing or working with Computer Vision development teams; a background in developing machine learning/computer vision-based solutions is ideal
  • A genuine commitment to nurturing teams and fostering individual growth
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and understanding of IoT and cloud platform development
  • Strong leadership, consulting, communication, and conflict management skills, with the ability to build consensus among project leaders and stakeholders
  • Strategic planning and decision analysis capabilities, with an emphasis on quantitative or data-driven approaches
  • Proven project management and integration skills (certification is a bonus); ability to coordinate all aspects of a project or program
  • Well-formed opinions about the best tools and KPIs for tracking development, quality, etc.
