We are currently seeking a talented Staff Accountant to help us build our finance team to deliver strong control and deep insight.  Our finance team sits at the intersection of operations, marketing, and merchandising, giving the team exposure to every stakeholder in the business.  Reporting to the Controller, you will have the opportunity to drive meaningful change within the organization from the first day.  We learn by doing, so be ready to stay lean, nimble, and to get your hands on everything from inventory management and optimization to revenue recognition.  If you’re looking for the opportunity to gain meaningful financial operating experience in a creative, high-growth environment, let us know!

You will:


  • Assist the Senior Accountant and Controller with transitioning our third-party external accounting team to fully “in-house”.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, supporting workpapers and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Act as the point-person for coordination and processing of vendor invoices through our Accounts Payable platform, Bill.com.
  • Participate in the yearly audit of financial statements.
  • Get creative to help develop and ensure proper fiscal controls are in place.
  • Aid in implementation of financial accounting information, control, and analysis tools.
  • Create and maintain organizational systems for financial backup documentation.
  • Ad hoc projects come up all the time, whether that be helping to create investor reports, getting involved with internal initiatives, etc.

  • Work out of our New York City office 3 days per week in a hybrid model.

Ideal Candidate:


  • 1 - 2+ years of professional or relevant experience (including internships or academic experience)
  • Is very comfortable with Microsoft Excel functionality
  • Has outstanding oral and written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Has a creative and analytical mind
  • Is self-motivated and a team player who’s comfortable in a high-growth start-up environment. We need someone who is proactive and always looking to learn new things and take on new responsibilities.

Bonus points for:


  • CPA or CPA track
  • E-commerce experience, particularly at a subscription-based business

Compensation, benefits, and perks:


  • Starting base salary range of $65,000 to $70,000 per year
