Diabetes Clinical Advisor
Better Health is creating a new medical provider type, disrupting the $60B home medical supply industry. How? By bundling peer support, coaching, education, and home delivery of medical supplies in an end-to-end care solution we turn the focus to our members and help them choose the best medical supplies to address their underlying chronic conditions. Since its inception in November 2019, Better Health has gained Medicare licenses in 46 states, 11 Medicaid licenses, and preferred national provider contracts with Oscar Health, UHealth, Humana.
As a result, our member base has rapidly grown rapidly grow month over month with virtually no churn. We are backed by Caffeinated Capital, General Catalyst, 8VC, and Bill Ackman, as well as several prominent healthcare leaders including the CEO and President of eHealth. Our Diabetes Clinical Advisor is involved in the training and quality management of the Diabetes peer support coaching program by applying their professional skills in developing educational programs, as well as training Peer Support Coaches and other staff. Our diabetes clinical advisor must have excellent interpersonal skills, collaborate effectively, and be a creative problem solver. Roles and responsibilities:
- Apply clinical expertise to contribute to Better Health’s peer support and care programs
- Collaborate with the Clinical Operations Manager to manage the quality of our peer support and care programs
- Assist in recruitment of peer coaches and care program staff
- Manage clinical quality for peer sessions through review of sessions and documentation and coaching of care program staff
- Conduct regular assessments of member outcomes and provide recommendations to drive improved outcomes for members
- Develop and maintain educational resources and tools for peer coaches and members
Required Qualifications
- Diabetes background as RN, RD/RDN, and/or CDCES with current licensure
- At least 3-5 years recent/current experience working with patients with diabetes
- Familiarity with DME related to diabetes, CGM, insulin pumps and direct work helping patients navigate these products
- Knowledge of current evidence-based diabetes care, including caring for diabetes-related lower extremity ulcers/wounds
- Passionate about patient-centered care and a belief that peer support is an important component that supports and improves patient outcomes
- Experience with Google suite, knowledge management systems (e.g. Guru)
- Interested in flexible, contract-based work
Bonus points if (not required):
- Active NP, PA, BC-ADM or other advanced practitioner license
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish
- Experience working with socioeconomically depressed/underinsured patients and/or case management experience
- Personal history of diabetes or strong personal connection to someone with diabetes
