Job Description:
Softrams is seeking an experienced senior accountant to join our team. This position is critical in supporting multiple clients with all facets of operational accounting (GL, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations) to include assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial package (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, etc.).Annual responsibilities include Incurred Cost Submission preparation, 1099 preparation, and assisting with year-end financial statements.The senior accountant must be proficient in the use of automated accounting system software and spreadsheet applications, particularly Unanet, and QuickBooks, and have Project Accounting experience.
CPA license preferred. The candidate shall have experience with Accounting, Timekeeping, and Expense Reporting for Government Contractors, and compliance with DCAA, FAR, DFARS, and CAS standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or degree in a related field combined with relevant accounting
- experience.
- 7+ years of accounting experience working with various ERP systems.
- Proficiency in automated accounting system software and spreadsheet applications, specifically
- Unanet and QuickBooks.
- Experience with Project and customer invoicing across various types of governments contracts (e.g.,
- CPFF, T&M, FFP)and various invoice submission portals including Wide Are Workflow.
- Understanding and experience with adhering to DCAA, FAR, DFARS, and CAS standards related to government contracts.
- Extensive use of Unanet Accounting, Timekeeping, and expense reporting software in a DCAA
- compliant environment for government contractors.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, adheres to deadlines, responsive to client and management requirements.
- Extremely detail orientated with strong analytical skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government contracting regulations (FAR).

Responsibilities:
- Prepares day-to-day and month-end close entries including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses,
- unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
- Prepares complex reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts and various other general
- ledger accounts, as needed.
- Assists with the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Validate and enter accounts payable for various contracts, task orders, and general operations of

- Analyze project costs/expenses for compliance with the contractual requirements and Government
- regulations
- Develops and maintains an understanding of the accounting operations within each assigned client
- and obtains a working knowledge of the client's accounting software.
- Assists external auditors and tax accountants with preparing schedules, providing explanations of
- supporting materials and procedures, and preparing additional data.
- Assists in the preparation of the client's year-end 1099 submissions.
- Recommends, designs, and implements department controls and procedures.
- Communicates with clients on an ongoing basis.
- Supervisory responsibilities include:
- Reviews and supervises staff accountant's monthly work, including journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Coaches and mentors Staff Accountants through project management
- Disburses client requests to team members to manage deadlines

Public Trust Clearance:
This role requires the hired candidate to go through public trust clearance. A minimum of 3 years of stay in the U.S. within the last 5 years is required to be eligible to qualify for public trust clearance sponsorship.
Work Location:
We have open-collaboration offices in Leesburg VA and Baltimore MD for those who may prefer to work on-site. However, Softrams is a 100% remote-first team environment. Softrams works in the eastern time zone and standard work hours are 9am ET to 5pm ET with flexibility around start and end times based on team needs.
