Ventrata is seeking an experienced and talented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our expanding team. As a DBA at Ventrata, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our company's databases.We are a rapidly growing company in the travel industry, providing a comprehensive ticketing and management solution for attractions, tours, and activity suppliers. With our platform handling millions of transactions daily, the reliability and efficiency of our databases are essential.As a DBA, your responsibilities will include database design, performance monitoring and tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and data integrity.

You will work closely with our development and infrastructure teams to optimize the database environment and support the continuous growth of our business

About Ventrata


Founded in late 2016, Ventrata aims to be the Google of the travel industry — the SaaS solution everyone relies on. We provide technology in all channels with a one-stop-shop ticketing, management and operational solution for attractions, tours and activity suppliers.Despite the challenging environment, Ventrata continues to grow in double digits. During the global pandemic, many attractions have restructured and upgraded their technology. For Ventrata, this has driven a growth rate of 6x — from $80m in ticket sales in 2019 to more than $900m in 2022.Ventrata has been profitable since 2018 and holds substantial private backing.

There have been two successful rounds of funding prior to coronavirus. No funding has been required to maintain operations through the period. Our team is based in Czechia, UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Slovakia, Croatia, Nigeria and the US.

Responsibilities and Duties


  • Review the current state of the database, optimize and improve its performance and overall functionality.
  • Design, implement and maintain database systems to support our business needs.
  • Monitor the performance of our databases and provide ongoing optimization and tuning.
  • Ensure data integrity and security across all databases.
  • Manage backups, recovery, and disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to plan and implement database changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
  • Maintain documentation and provide technical guidance and support to the team.
  • Optimize storage and archive old data.
  • Write and maintain data export scripting and tooling for various use cases (backups, partial data exports, etc)
  • Assist API team with optimizing complex SQL scrips and suggest improvements to existing ones

Our tech stack: Google Cloud Platform, Google Cloud SQL (Postgres), Kubernetes, Ruby on Rails, Golang, Typescript.

Requirements


  • Understanding of SQL and scripting languages.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Google Cloud SQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Proficient in database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery.
  • Knowledge of database security and data integrity requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • BI experience is an advantage.
