Range Energy is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Test Technician to join our team, focusing on the development, testing, and validation of EV powertrains for heavy trucking. This position requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other team members.Our team has an action biased culture marked by integrity, humility, competence, and passion for the mission and the systems we design. Inside the Role
- Assist engineering staff to conduct comprehensive testing and validation of EV powertrain components and systems for heavy-duty trucks.
- Collaboratively develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols to ensure product design and performance meet product goals.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify, analyze, and troubleshoot issues during the testing process, with a focus on electric motors, batteries, power electronics, and control systems.
- Perform detailed analysis of test data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and inform design improvements.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and implement test fixtures and setups specific to heavy-duty EV powertrains.
- Document and report test results, providing detailed analysis and recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Assist in the development and refinement of testing methodologies and best practices for EV powertrain systems.
The Must Haves
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive testing or a related field, with a focus on EV powertrains and/or heavy-duty vehicles.
- Strong technical skills and hands-on experience with diagnostic tools, equipment, and software used in EV powertrain testing.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications related to EV systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and software specific to EV powertrains is a plus, specifically CAN based communication protocols and J1939 in particular.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to build, repair and diagnose complex mechanical assemblies before relevant documentation is developed.
Other Requirements
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment. Comfortable with occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing as required for infrastructure maintenance.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required for training, pilot support, conferences, or to support remote office locations.
- While we appreciate the importance of schedule flexibility, it's essential to note that the nature of this role necessitates a regular and consistent onsite presence.
Range Energy’s compensation package includes a competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and a generous benefits package. The salary range for Mountain View, CA based applicants is between $130,000 - $190,000 annually. The total compensation will be determined based on multiple factors including domain knowledge, experience and location.---Range Energy participates in E-Verify in the United States.
