The role:
Our Math Contributors bring a wide variety of experience to the table, but they are all united by their passion for improving the lives of teachers and students, and their commitment to developing engaging, student-centered, and culturally responsive resources. To achieve this, different types of assignments for Math Contributors might include:
- Develop interactive slide-based materials aligned with CCSS standards.
- Create multimedia-enhanced flashcards to improve student practice.
- Construct technology-enhanced items for integration into Formative’s item bank.
- Implement Newsela articles to enrich math instruction with real-world connections.

In order to be successful in this role, our Math Contributors have the following experience and abilities:
Experience- Strong expertise in secondary math (Grades 6-12).
- Proven ability to create standards-aligned math items and lessons.
- Experience with technology-enhanced item (TEI) standards.
- Consistent track record of meeting deadlines.
- Detail-oriented approach to content creation.
- Familiarity with educational content platforms or quick-to-learn new tools.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality educational materials.
Knowledge
- Strong grasp of secondary-level math concepts (Grades 6 - 12), including algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics.
- Proficiency in aligning content with educational standards (e.g., Common Core, TEKS).
- Experience with assessment strategies and technology-enhanced items (TEIs).
- Familiarity with educational technology tools for math instruction.
- Ability to contribute to curriculum development for secondary math education.
- Awareness of current pedagogical trends in math instruction.
