We are currently seeking a passionate and qualified teacher to join our team in Greensboro, NC, working with undocumented children who have crossed the southern border. This position is crucial in ensuring these children's educational and emotional well-being as they navigate their new environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide educational instruction to undocumented children in a supportive and structured environment.
- Develop and implement curriculum tailored to the needs of English Language Learners (ELL).
- Collaborate with medical services and caregiver personnel to provide trauma-informed supplementary support.
- Create a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and emotional well-being.
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each child.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on best practices for working with undocumented children.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of a state-approved teacher education program from North Carolina or any state recognized by North Carolina interstate reciprocity.
- Certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or other appropriate accrediting body.
- Additional training or experience in working with undocumented children or children with special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
