Job Summary:
As USA-Clean by Jon-Don continues to grow, they seek a Buyer Planner to drive on time delivery of inventory to ensure a positive customer experience and maintain high levels of product availability. The Buyer Planner will own all aspects of the inventory plan from demand/forecast management through PO placement to final receipt/payment. This person will be reviewing the inventory and placing purchase orders in a timely fashion to ensure readiness of product while effectively balancing inventory investment.
In addition, the Buyer Planner will work closely with vendors to ensure they are meeting delivery performance standards, providing tracking information, and meeting product quality standards.The Buyer Planner will be a part of the Inventory Management team and will report to the Manager, Buyer Planners. He/she will work cross functionally with key internal business partners including Product Management, Warehouse, Sales, and other key areas impacted by the decisions made within Inventory Management as well as external partners (e.g. suppliers, third party partners, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own on time and in full fill rate performance while balancing inventory investment and cash flow balance
- Manage the inventory plan and strategy for a specific customer vertical across all 15 Jon-Don locations including stocking positions and inventory transfer volumes
- Adjust inventory parameters and demand history to derive appropriate inventory plan
- Execute, track, and monitor purchase orders for assigned product portfolio
- Work with vendor partners on delivery lead times, shipping compliances, product quality, and other key initiatives/requests
- Support field requests related to market intelligence, inventory requests, and missed sales opportunities
- Work with Product Management on new product launches, portfolio strategy transitions, and end of product life discontinuations
- Review inventory positions within assigned portfolio and identify opportunities to deplete excess and obsolete inventory
- Own key processes related to the product portfolio where applicable including warranty, returns, and emergency event planning
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in related field - supply chain, inventory management a plus
- Experience in demand planning, forecasting, and purchase order management
KEY OPERATING METRICS:
- Customer line on time and in full fill rates
- Inventory turns
- Excess and obsolete inventory dollars
- PO ship date management
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTITUDES:
- Ability to analyze and manipulate data to derive a strategy and execute accordingly
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Creative thinker – the ability to see the big picture and not just follow the process, the ability to solve the right problem, not just the obvious problem
- Natural curiosity and not satisfied with the quick answer, continues to ask why and dig into the details where needed
- Process oriented, with a focus on time management and managing multiple priorities
- Strong stakeholder management skills, keeping informed those who are involved in key topics as they progress
- A desire to progress in her/his career, an interest in learning and being coached
- Able to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication and able to tailor message accordingly based on the audience
- Collaborative and does not hesitate to solicit input or work with others to better understand the task at hand
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
- Passion for process improvement and willingness to lead change initiatives
