About the role:
Navigators convey accurate information to help consumers make informed decisions about healthcare coverage, providing virtual one-on-one enrollment assistance. Navigators work directly with patients to help optimize their insurance coverage. This role will require working with insurances on prior authorizations and referrals.
About Synapticure
Synapticure launched in early 2022 to serve individuals living with ALS, and we continue to expand our care for additional neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s Disease. Remote by design, we are backed by Google Ventures, Optum Ventures and other top healthcare investors.Synapticure aims to give all patients living with neurodegenerative disease access to the best care while fueling the advancement of personalized treatments. We do so by creating a guided journey for each patient, their caregivers, and family that educates and empowers while navigating the complex challenges facing patients and facilitating access to critical tests and leading experts.
With our patients’ consent, their de-identified data is then used to both inform personalized treatments for patients today and to speed the development of new targeted therapies. Synapticure serves patients in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.Over the next year we’ll be growing quickly to serve thousands of individuals and their families per year; to achieve this, we require effective, knowledgeable, and compassionate team members who are eager to build a new standard of care for individuals living with neurodegenerative diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with applications for health insurance programs, including explaining information accurately and in understandable terms, interviewing consumers to obtain information needed for application, and facilitating computer-based enrollment.
- Maintain up to date expertise in eligibility, enrollment and program specifications and provide information to consumers in a fair and impartial manner.
- Educate the public about the Marketplace and health insurance affordability programs through community outreach events.
- Ensure the privacy and security of consumers’ personally identifiable information and comply with federal regulations
- Complete prior authorizations and referrals

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1 to 3 years of experience in customer service, education, human service delivery, community outreach, public health, benefits enrollment, and/or related fields.
- Understand and demonstrate commitment to the mission.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Computer skills: ability to efficiently navigate the Internet, familiarity with Google, Mac, and with Zoom.
- Ability to learn and retain complex information with accuracy and to follow procedures consistently and with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse population.
