We are seeking a Head of IT Engineering to join our rapidly growing global workforce in Sofia, Bulgaria. This role will be tasked with managing the day-to-day operation of our Global IT infrastructure and identifying key opportunities for improvement. This is a great opportunity for someone who has expert level IT Engineering experience coupled with an affinity to mentor and lead technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a global, cross discipline team of 10-15 engineers, including hiring, training, mentoring, guiding, and evaluating team members
- Manage the day-to-day IT operations by monitoring system performance, stats, and faults
- Hands-on participation in the implementation of engineering projects and troubleshooting
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions to increase system uptime, stability, and availability
- Develop and contribute to new and existing technology and business roadmaps
- Provide innovation and process improvement recommendations and oversee implementation
- Increase performance of mission critical resources
- Establish policy and procedures for the installation and management of the host operating systems, disk arrays, networking equipment, backup libraries and other components
- Stay current with technological developments in systems, networks, and database engineering technologies
- Manage an on-call rotation, to ensure 24/7 coverage
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in Network, Infrastructure or System Engineering
- 3+ years of experience managing Infrastructure Engineering teams
- Advanced knowledge of network related concepts such as dynamic routing, segmentation, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of public and private cloud technologies
- Experience with monitoring and logging platforms such as Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, ELK, APM
- Expert level experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
- Hands-on experience with automation with Docker, Python, Bash Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, etc.
- Experience with VSphere or Nutanix AHV
- Understanding of industry security frameworks such as NIST 800-53, ISO27001, PCI DSS, etc.
- Strong familiarity with agile project management practices
