The
Railcar Cleaner cleans the interior of railcars (tank, hopper, and other railcars) and components using interior blast, steaming, orbital wash, chemical / detergent, vapor scrubbing, dig out, and other systems and equipment to ensure railcar conformance with FRA, AAR, Customer and Rescar requirements.
What you'll do:
- Perform railcar inspections to verify cleanliness and product (commodity) type using MSDS, cleaning certificate, draeger tube test, and flammability and oxygen tests.
- Drive cleaning equipment and mobile units to customer sites to perform cleaning services
- Remove product from railcars using bottom outlet valves and performing interior dig outs and store the product in appropriately labeled drums, dumpsters and other containers.
- Clean the interior of railcars (tank, hopper, and other railcars) and components (e.g., valves, dip tubes, interior coils, sumps, manway lids, etc.) using interior blast, steaming, orbital wash, chemical / detergent, vapor scrubbing, and dig out systems and equipment.
- Inspect railcars after cleaning for rust identification (e.g., flash, medium tight, scale) and interior lining condition.
- Follow and enforce safety rules, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
What you'll need:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, preferred
- College Degree, preferred.
- 0 – 2 years railcar cleaning experience or related field work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-2 years knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair and maintenance.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance, required.
- Ability to work in various temperatures indoors and in outdoor weather.
- Ability to travel up to 20% out-of-state.
