About the Software Engineering team:
As part of the Software Engineering Team you will be responsible for making our customer onboarding process onto our software suite of tools as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Formic’s vision is that software technologies will be one of the major innovations and differentiators for our company. This role will be instrumental in ensuring that we have a well-designed process and tools to integrate with in-house products and third party automation systems. We’re doing “new things in a traditional industry”, and we’ll be using cutting-edge technologies such as Generative AI, Computer Vision and Machine Learning to streamline this process and add value for our customers.Check out some of our recent projects here and here to learn more about what we are working on.
As Onboarding Lead, you will:
- Initially work hands-on to support deployments and onboarding of various systems onto Formic software platform:
- Work with System Integrators and, as necessary, make modifications to PLC/Robot code to provide required data
- Ensure that safety and productivity data is properly collected by our system
- Partner with customer IT team to ensure connectivity
- Provision systems and users in our backend and App
- Make process improvements and work with the Software team to create automations
- Work closely with Deployment Project Managers to integrate software onboarding into their process and reduce any friction
- Work closely with the Monitoring and Maintenance team to develop system observability and data reporting. Create requirements for Software Monitoring tools as needed
- Partner with Customer Success team to ensure Customer satisfaction with Software tools
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies
What makes you a great fit:
- Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent experience/training
- 3+ years of relevant experience within the robotics field, with emphasis on industrial automation
- Solid understanding of industrial automation safety system and procedures
- Prior experience working with PLCs and ladder logic
- Knowledge of various robotic arms, such as ABB, Kuka, Fanuc, etc.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus and others
- Experience with Safety I/O, End of Arm Tooling and other peripherals

Total rewards packages at Formic consist of salaries benchmarked against similar stage growth companies, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD), and equity in Formic itself. As an early stage startup, equity is an important part of our investment in you, and your investment in Formic. When Formic succeeds, we all succeed.Final offer amounts are custom-crafted, based on the cash/equity ratio preference of the candidate, as well as their experience, geographical location and cost of labor, and more, and may vary from the range listed below.
Ultimately we’re seeking top performers who will make a difference to our business, and we’re open to negotiating the compensation structure for the right candidate. The expected base pay range for this position is below.Base Salary Range:$90,000—$135,000 USD
