Federation Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Federation Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our federation identity and access management systems, working with technologies such as Okta and Ping Federate/ PingOne.
Federation Engineer Responsibilities
- Design and implement federation identity and access management solutions to meet business requirements.
- Configure and customize Federation applications, including user provisioning, single sign-on, and multi-factor authentication.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate federation technologies with various enterprise systems, such as Active Directory, HR systems, and cloud applications.
- Develop and maintain federation policies, rules, and workflows to enforce security and compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to federation authentication, authorization, and user provisioning.
- Monitor the performance and scalability of the federation infrastructure and implement necessary improvements and optimizations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to system administrators and end-users on federation-related topics.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in identity and access management and recommend improvements to enhance our federation implementation.
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners to leverage federation integrations and functionalities.
- Document federation configurations, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.
Federation Engineer Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Federation Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of identity and access management principles.
- Solid knowledge of federation platform features and functionalities, including user lifecycle management, SSO, and MFA.
- Hands-on experience with federation administration, configuration, and customization.
- Familiarity with integrating federation technologies with enterprise systems, such as Active Directory, HR systems, and cloud applications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex federation-related issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications in relevant federation technologies (such as Okta Certified Administrator or Ping Federate/ PingOne Certified) are a plus.
- Experience with other identity and access management solutions is a plus.
