The System Engineer will be responsible for creating, delivering, managing and supporting virtual infrastructure architecture. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and securing virtual systems and services while adhering to best practices and standards, including VMware vSphere and others.
We are seeking a highly skilled VMware Technical Resource with extensive experience in managing VMware environments within public cloud platforms, including those compliant with FedRAMP requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing managed services, ensuring the optimal performance, security, and compliance of VMware environments in the cloud. Other responsibilities include providing technical support to customers, and supporting Managed Services through documentation, procedure creation, and incident/problem/change management disciplines.

This position may require on-call support and occasional travel. Remote work options are available, but candidates must be able to access secure environments as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES:General:

  • Deliver managed services to clients, including environment provisioning, configuration management, and capacity planning.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for managed services operations.
  • Continuously improve service delivery processes to enhance client satisfaction.

VMware Environment:

  • Administration of x86 servers, VMware, storage, Microsoft technologies for our managed services customers
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patch management, software upgrades, and system monitoring.
  • Implement and manage disaster recovery solutions.

FedRAMP Compliance:

  • Ensure all VMware environments adhere to FedRAMP compliance standards.
  • Maintain and update documentation to support FedRAMP compliance audits and assessments.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to address and resolve any compliance-related issues.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support for VMware-related issues, including incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to and resolve service requests within agreed service levels.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored VMware solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including security, compliance, and network operations, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports to stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the virtualization domain and hands-on working experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN (HCI), NSX, VCF and related VMware technologies.
  • Experience with performing migration of VMs from On-Pem to Cloud, and cross-hypervisors.
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms and their integration with VMware.
  • Proficiency in network configuration, storage management, and virtualization technologies.
  • Advanced experience with MS Clustering, MS SQL High Availability is a plus.
  • Demonstrated excellent knowledge of x86 Servers and Blades, Storage & Backup Infrastructure and datacenter networking is a must (Lenovo, HPE, Cisco, Dell, Nutanix, Zerto, Veeam, Rubrik etc.)
  • Conversant with the current virtualization products and solutions of the following major vendor such as VMware, Nutanix, Citrix, Red Hat or Microsoft
  • Working experience with SCCM, SCVMM, VMware Cloud on Azure/AWS/IBM Cloud would be an added advantage
  • Experience in Systems Center Suite, VMware vRealize Suite, VCF, and/or NSX, is a plus
  • Excellent Knowledge of Private, Public and Hybrid Cloud environments
  • Excellent knowledge of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, clustering, encryption technologies from multiple vendors
  • Working experience with Microsoft AD/DNS MS Exchange, Exchange Online and/or Hyper-V
  • Certifications:

  • VMware VCP (required)
  • VMware Certified Specialist - VMware Cloud Foundation Deployment (preferred)
  • VMware Certified Specialist - vSAN 2024 (preferred)
  • Relevant public cloud certifications

  • RedRAMP training is highly desirable
  • Experience with deploying and managing virtual machines in a Red Hat OpenShift Container / Virtualization Platform environment, KVM, is a plus
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization (preferred)
