As Program Manager, you will be responsible for the overall direction, completion, and implementation of specific programs while ensuring quality products meet Avelo stakeholders’ requested specifications and are delivered in accordance with the program schedule.On April 28, 2021, Avelo took flight as America’s first new airline in nearly 15 years – ushering in a new era of affordable, convenient, and reliable air travel.

Responsibilities
Program Planning and Management:
- Develop program plans, including defining scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Coordinate and oversee multiple projects within the program in various product domains, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
- Allocate resources and manage program budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Closely work with multiple scrum teams and business groups to coordinate the program and development integration dependencies.
- Lead assigned product domain releases and their defined release management process.
- Lead the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Work closely with the development team to ensure product features are implemented according to specifications.
- Work closely with business groups, IT leadership, and executives to build enterprise-wide product roadmaps and their sequence, provide subject matter opinion, and be the “voice of internal customers” to get programs prioritized.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the development, engineering, and multiple impacted business groups to ensure the successful development and launch of programs/products.
- Facilitate communication and alignment between teams to ensure a cohesive product development standard.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all product/program-related inquiries and decisions.
- Act as a primary owner of the assigned product configuration plans and proactively pull decisions from applicable business groups for the system’s initial and ongoing configurations.
Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with key stakeholders, including senior management, business partners, and Crewmembers, to ensure program objectives are met and delivered to gain its value.
- Communicate program status, risks, and issues to stakeholders regularly.
- Escalate risks and issues to IT leadership and stakeholders based on each program situation as applicable.
- Foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
Risk and Issue Management:
- Identify, assess, and manage program risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Develop and maintain a risk management plan to minimize potential negative impacts on the program.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor program progress and success.
- Prepare and present regular program status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Conduct program reviews and post-implementation assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Quality Assurance:
- Oversee product testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the product meets performance and reliability standards.
- Ensure all projects within the program adhere to quality standards and best practices.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the program deliverables.
- Work closely with scrum QA Crewmembers, product support Crewmembers, and business groups to define user acceptance, change management plans, execution plans, and product/program adoption strategy.
Vendor Management:
- Build strong relationships with key vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain and effective collaboration.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, addressing any issues, concerns, or disputes.
- Foster long-term partnerships with vendors to enhance strategic alignment and mutual growth.
- Support IT leadership and business groups with vendor sections and evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Program Manager or in a similar managerial role like a Product Manager or Portfolio Manager.
- Demonstrated experience in managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Experience with project management software and tools.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
- May require travel to various locations.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet program deadlines.
- Team player and relationship builder, effectively working cross-functionally and gaining consensus when needed.
- Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic.
