The role:


The Strategy & Operations Senior Manager is a pivotal role that will work both deeply and cross-functionally to drive the entry and growth of Airwallex, one of the world’s top payment technology companies, in the dynamic Japan market. Reporting to the Country Manager, Japan, you will work closely with the commercial and operations across a wide range of responsibilities surrounding the company’s development in Japan.

Your key responsibilities will include:


Strategy:

Size, define and map the market; develop our understanding of key verticals, competitors, ideal customer profiles, compelling use cases, and revenue projections;

Project management:

Work collaboratively with local and international cross-functional teams to lead and drive our go-to-market in Japan, including 

Operations:

Work closely with the operations team to ensure seamless onboarding experience for our customers;

Process improvement:

Adapt existing processes from other regions to help scale lead generation and commercial activities;

Product launch and enhancements:

Identify product market fit in the market for product launch and collate feedback and define a prioritized list of product enhancements to help drive growth in the market;

  • A strategic thinker and analytical in their approach to developing strategies;

  • Success-oriented and hold yourself accountable for delivering key outcomes;

  • Consistently “going the extra mile” in your work;

  • Able to work collaboratively with people at all levels and across functions and cultures;

  • Able to synthesize and communicate in a simple but effective manner;

Skills and experience you will bring;



  • 7+ years of experience, preferably in top-tier strategy/management consulting or equivalent;

  • Experience working in international teams across different time zones and possess strong stakeholder management;

  • Native Japanese and Business level English is required;

  • Rigorous analytical and problem solving skills essential;

  • Strong sense of ownership and desire to shepherd sprawling projects from end to end;

  • Commercial acumen, including ability to create commercial proposals;

  • Self-starter that can identify and prioritize opportunities to focus on;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills;

  • Start up, technology, financial services and/or experience in a high growth environment is advantageous;

  • Experience studying or working in an international context would be an advantage;

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; MBA a plus.
