As the Senior Data Scientist, you will work in collaboration with internal and external teams and will be responsible for improving the value and utility of healthcare claims data, lab data, and other wellness health data products.
You will analyze data to create high-impact data products in the service of our internal business and external partners that help improve health outcomes, experience, and satisfaction of our at-risk participants to drive the greatest impact on employee health.

What will your day look like?
- Consult with internal and external teams to identify opportunities and deliver reliable analytical solutions.
- Work with and interpret medical and pharmacy claims data as well as biometric/lab data and health risk assessment (Know Your Number® disease risk questionnaire) data for the identification of risk mitigation opportunities with deep knowledge of data standards like ICD, CPT, and NDC codes.
- Use Matillion ETL, Snowflake DB, and Microsoft SQL to collate, transform, and query data from various sources, including large and complex claims data files.
- R and R Markdown to provide ad hoc and routine reports from business intelligence software using medical/pharmacy claims data, lab data, or other wellness data.
- Work with developers to migrate existing legacy claims system data to new claims database for use with business intelligence software.
- Lead software developers to help with maintenance and enhancements to our existing population health management aggregate reports and evidence-based results reports to enable outreach to at risk participants in our wellness and disease management programs.
- Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires identifying problems and solutions for our internal development team and external data providers.
- Effectively communicate data reports, data trends, and data analysis with internal and external customers regularly, including executive suite.
- Lead the implementation of claims data integration with the Account Management teams.
- Design processes and workflows to drive internal efficiencies.
- Attend department meetings and client meetings via Microsoft Teams
Requirements
What should you bring to the table?
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Analytics, Data Science, Advanced Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, or other related discipline.
- 7+ years of relevant experience working with health care or related data, with a strong understanding of medical claims, pharmacy claims, ICD, CPT, NDC codes, biometric/lab data, and other wellness data.
- Proficiency in R Analytics and R Markdown required, additional proficiency with Python is advantageous.
- Basic SQL knowledge for querying various databases using Microsoft SQL.
- Able to work independently and to establish, monitor, and achieve goals with minimal supervision.
- Able to communicate frequently and clearly with internal and external customers, including Sales, Account Managers, Health Coaches, and Software Developers.
- Able to work on problems of a diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Able to analyze problems and strategize solutions in a creative manner
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Organized and able to adhere to timelines and schedules
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, sometimes under tight deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity
- Knowledge of SAS scripting is beneficial

What is the work environment?
- This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
- This position is a fully remote position, reporting into our home office in Malvern, Pa. Local candidates can have the option of hybrid work in office and remote if desired.
- Because you will be handling confidential client information, you must work from your designated home office. Our Privacy policies prohibit working from public locations and Wi-Fi.
- Technology, hardware and software, are provided. Employees must provide their own secure internet access.
- This position's hours will be Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm ET.
