We are seeking a Safety Engineer to join our diverse and dynamic team. Your overarching role will be to ensure adherence to applicable safety policies and standards. You will use your experience and expertise to establish design criteria and requirements as well as to lead independent safety analyses, studies, and design evaluations of systems and software including:
- Conducting safety requirements analysis to flow-down Safety requirements and safety attributes to software/hardware products under development
- Conducting software code analyses
- Participating in the Software Safety Verification process to ensure Safety Significant requirements are adequately tested
- Providing recommendations on safety engineering program plans as well as establishing safety test requirements, plans, and programs
- Ensuring technical manuals, publications, and procedures contain the requisite safety information to ensure personnel protection and system operation.
- Participating in accident investigations and conduct safety assessments at laboratory and operational test sites.
- Developing Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and/or Failure Mode, Effects & Critically Analysis (FMECA)
Required:
- BS or BA degree
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant Aviation Safety experience
- Working knowledge of safety principles, regulations, and practices including experience carrying out hazard control techniques as well as conducting risk analysis
- Detailed working knowledge of MIL-STD-882E, MIL-HDBK-516, DO-178, DO-278, JSSEH, AMCOM Regulation 385-17, SAE ARP 4761, or similar safety standards
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Desired:
- Knowledge of Air and Missile Defense System
- Knowledge of Aircraft Navigation Data
- Familiar with the Plan for Software Aspects for Approval (PSAA)
- Familiar with the Software Accomplishments Summary (SAS)
- Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis
- Experience with Model Based Software Development
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, etc
