Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be mainly responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, performing selected GL account reconciliations, conducting bank reconciliations, handling investment reporting, and providing ad hoc reporting and support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • At least 1 year of experience in accounting, and/or audit.
  • CPA or CPA eligible is preferred.

Primary Job Functions:


  • Journal entry preparation and posting.
  • Running periodic financial reports from the General Ledger system.
  • Running investment portfolio reports from vendor’s online portal.
  • Monthly and quarterly analytics as assigned, including research of variances.
  • Assisting with GAAP investment footnotes.
  • Performing quarterly audit control reporting.
  • Account reconciliations including resolution of reconciling items.
  • Audit request tracking and support preparation/gathering.
  • Other Ad-hoc requirements as needed.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Skills & Competencies Required:


  • Requires some knowledge of a specialized function or skill.
  • Developing real trade craft and skills.
  • Advanced MS Excel ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Oracle experience a plus.
  • Investment experience a plus.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred.
