Responsible for supporting various actuarial analyses, including reserve analysis, loss experience analysis, pricing, rate filings, and assessments of program profitability and performance. Additionally, responsible for addressing actuarial and finance-related inquiries concerning a comprehensive range of property and casualty insurance products, as well as credit life and related insurance products.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, Risk Management or Accounting highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Property & Casualty insurance products.
  • Pursuit of actuarial designation of Associate or Fellow (Casualty Actuarial Society).
  • Successful completion of 3+ actuarial exams.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access (or other data querying tool) skills.
  • Proficient in SQL.
  • Progress toward attainment of actuarial designation of Associate or Fellow (Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society)

Primary Job Functions:


  • Perform analysis of new opportunities including projecting initial expected loss ratios.
  • Present results to underwriters and other key stakeholders.
  • Recommend underwriting actions to improve profitability of new and existing programs.
  • Provide support for rate filings; respond to internal inquiries and objections from state DOIs.
  • Assists with Quarterly loss reserve/claim reserve review for several statutory companies.
  • Assists with analytics including program performance monitoring and rate change on renewal calculations.
  • Enhance quarterly data collection and reporting process used by actuarial to present findings to key stakeholders including underwriting, claims, and management.
  • Familiarity with data intelligence tools such as Oracle and Toad a plus.
  • Provide data to and support independent actuarial consultants who perform quarterly Life Insurance and Property & Casualty actuarial analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
