This position involves performing a range of routine paralegal and administrative tasks for designated attorneys, particularly within our specialty claims department. Responsibilities include aiding claims adjusters and management in managing claim files for standard cases, which may involve conducting preliminary legal research, drafting routine documents, and obtaining, reviewing, and summarizing relevant documents, reports, records, and other information sources. Additionally, the paralegal will support and collaborate with senior claim professionals in handling both substantive and administrative tasks related to complex claims, lawsuits, and arbitrations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Paralegal or claim experience preferred.
- Insurance related experience preferred.
Primary Job Functions:
- Handle a desk of low-to-moderately complex claims under the supervision of a Claims Supervisor.
- Claim file record management – ensuring claims documents are placed in the correct claims file(s).
- Electronically file claim correspondence and maintain claim files.
- Conduct basic legal research and analyze to prepare legal documents.
- Review initial and supplemental reports from defense counsel.
- Review investigative reports received from defense counsel.
- Review pleadings, motions, and discovery.
- Maintain data integrity within a computer platform.
- Provide administrative support to senior claims handlers and department in administration of claims.
- Other duties as assigned.
